Whitchurch is a market town with a thriving retail and commercial sector, a choice of supermarkets, banks and building societies complimenting traditional market town shops. The town has a large weekly indoor market on Fridays and an increasingly popular farmers market first Saturday of the month.
The Civic Centre has a wide range of regular activities from meditation
to rock concerts and is licensed to conduct civil weddings. With a range
of function rooms it is large enough to accommodate 600 visitors.
The Heritage centre is a valued asset and goes from strength to strength
having received a number of awards in the tourism sector. This year,
2006, we welcome the Edward German Festival celebrating one of our town’s
most famous sons. A world renowned composer, his music will be the subject
of a week long series of concerts featuring the Halle orchestra and Julian
Lloyd Webber alongside many other famous names.
Whitchurch continues to grow and the future looks bright. The town council is committed to developing facilities alongside this growth. We have embarked on the creation of a parish (town) plan and welcome your involvement.
